On April 8, 2026, a workshop on water supply, treatment, and reuse was held as part of the public consultation sessions for the document "Provisional Outline of Key Issues," the second milestone of the fourth cycle of the hydrological planning process (2028-2033) in the Segura River Basin District.
During this workshop, led by Jesús García, Head of the Hydrological Planning Office, the main challenges related to sanitation and wastewater treatment were analyzed, with particular emphasis on the management of pollution from point source discharges and the new quality requirements.
Critical aspects such as cost recovery for water services, the socioeconomic impact of the measures, and inter-agency coordination to ensure the implementation of the program of measures and compliance with environmental objectives were also discussed.
The workshop was also available to follow live online via the Microsoft Teams platform.
A total of 25 people attended the workshop, 11 in person and 14 remotely, representing various entities registered as stakeholders in the Segura River Basin Authority's hydrological planning process.
