THE HOUSE OF WATER

The Administration House was built in 1964 together with the reservoir dam and was transformed in 1994 into the dissemination center called “Casa del Agua”, located in the Santomera reservoir, in the surroundings of the Ajauque Wetland Protected Landscape and Rambla Salada.

It is an emblematic center for the dissemination and communication of all issues related to water, as it constitutes an essential resource for the development of the Segura basin.

La Casa del Agua aims to be a place for analysis and training, since in the future it wants to support and host research projects, exchange of experiences and development of new lines of work and knowledge. It aims to be a host center for conferences, congresses, seminars and other national and international events in which to address the issue of water as a sustainable resource, which focuses on this element and, especially, on socio-economic and environmental aspects.

The Casa del Agua is made up of a set of buildings and facilities, located in the surroundings of the Santomera reservoir, which houses a museum that allows to know the history of the Segura basin, the laboratories in which the quality of the waters is studied , the archive with historical documents and the Francis turbine exhibition pavilion.
